GIRLS ON THE RUN 5K

MAY 1, 2021 - LIVE IN SCOTTSDALE

We are excited to support Girls On The Run again this year! GOTR inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.

You can do (a) a 5K run/walk or other event on your own from April 21-May 9 (see the AWLA calendar for 4/21 and 5/9 for information on the virtual event), or (b) this event - a 5K run/walk in Scottsdale with other AWLA members and guests, led by Maricopa Chapter Steering Committee Member, Tricia Schafer.

The 5K run/walk will be at a comfortable pace, and can be any form of movement activity. Please plan to arrive at Tricia's house in Scottsdale by 7:45 am for an 8:00 am start along the canal. Just show up and run/walk/enjoy! All levels; we will aim to stick together or pair people up if desired.

Please bring hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, proper footwear, and prepare for heat. Part of the 5K will be on the packed-dirt side of the canal; other parts will be paved. Small disposable water bottles will be provided, but bringing your own hydration is encouraged. There is a bathroom on the course and at Tricia's house. Participants should be able to exercise outdoors in the heat for 60 minutes without difficulty.

Tricia is CPR/First Aid certified, but everyone participates at their own risk. Well-behaved leashed dogs are fine on the course and the backyard. Rain or shine. Regarding COVID-19 precautions, we will follow the federal CDC guidelines in effect on the day of the event. Tricia will be fully vaccinated 2 weeks prior to the event. Light refreshments poolside afterward.
