Lynda C. Shely, is a shareholder in Klinedinst PC in Phoenix, Arizona, where she provides legal ethics and Alternative Business Structure (ABS) law firm regulatory advice to lawyers and law firms. She advises firms on all legal ethics topics including fees, conflict waivers, advertising, trust accounts, ethical use of technology, and staff supervision obligations. Lynda was the 2020 – 2023 chair of the ABA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, an Arizona Delegate in the ABA House of Delegates, and currently volunteers with several other nonbillable groups including as a member of the Arizona Supreme Court’s Alternative Business Structures Committee, the Arizona Supreme Court’s Steering Committee on AI and the Courts, the ABA Standing Committee on Professional Regulation, and the State Bar of Arizona Ethics Advisory Group. She is a past president of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, the National ABS Law Firm Association, and the Scottsdale Bar Association and has been an adjunct professor at all Arizona law schools, teaching professional responsibility. Previously she was the Director of Lawyer Ethics for the State Bar of Arizona and had her own solo practice for 21 years. Prior to moving to Arizona, Lynda was an attorney with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Washington, DC. Lynda received her BA from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA and her JD from Catholic University in Washington, DC. She has received several awards for her contributions to the legal profession including the 2007 State Bar of Arizona Member of the Year award, the 2010 Scottsdale Bar Association Award of Excellence, the 2015 AWLA Maricopa Chapter Ruth V. McGregor Award, and most recently the 2022 Maricopa County Bar Association Member of the Year Award and the 2023 Maricopa County Bar Hall of Fame.
Whitney M. Harvey, Esq. is the founder and principal of The Self Coached Lawyer, a coaching and consulting practice that focuses on helping legal professionals achieve life-work balance and reconnect with their passion for their work. She is based in the Greater Phoenix area.
For the past 14 years, she has honed her legal expertise through successful litigation while also devoting herself to assisting fellow legal professionals in achieving personal and professional growth. Her motivation for coaching stems from her observations of systemic challenges within the legal profession that impact well-being, career satisfaction, and diversity. She is driven by a desire to establish new professional norms surrounding wellness, success, identity, and inclusion, to enhance the overall life-work balance and happiness of legal professionals.
Ms. Harvey utilizes a transformative, step-by-step coaching approach to support legal professionals in developing the mental tools needed to align their personal passions and missions with their legal careers. Her coaching also addresses time and stress management, along with the integration of mindful law approaches into their practices to foster creative problem-solving. As a consultant, Ms. Harvey aids leaders and firm owners in fostering mental clarity and focus, essential for establishing and sustaining cultures of well-being and inclusivity. She provides guidance for achieving personal and professional goals while creating a life-work balance that promotes individual well-being and career satisfaction.
Whitney M. Harvey obtained her Juris Doctor from Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in General Psychology, with a specialization in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
Ms. Harvey has achieved an AV rating as an attorney in Martindale-Hubbell, signifying the highest level of professional excellence and ethics. In addition, she has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers, acknowledging her exceptional professional achievements. Ms. Harvey's accomplishments also extend to her being named among the "40 Under 40" in Phoenix, further highlighting her significant contributions to her field and community.
