Litigation + drama = depression, angst, increased legal fees and costs, protracted litigation, and a complete barrier to a resolution. It impacts litigants and attorneys alike. Yet, few recognize the dynamic they’re wrapped up in. Drama is a dangerous and destructive force in court. It’s important for attorneys to know how to recognize and manage drama. This CLE looks at various aspects of the drama triangle, how it works, and how to escape its grasp. You can use this understanding to resolve conflict in your own life as well as the lives of your clients. David Enevoldsen, licensed to practice law in Arizona since 2012, has experience in both family law and criminal misdemeanor work. Mr. Enevoldsen earned an undergraduate degree in psychology and continues to be fascinated with the psychological underpinnings of inter and intra-personal conflict, in particular in the legal setting. His book, Emotional Embuffination, explains how to cultivate emotional strength and use it to more effectively deal with conflict. Mr. Enevoldsen also created the Emotional Embuffination Project which is dedicated to helping people develop emotional fitness. *The State Bar of Arizona does not approve or accredit CLE activities for the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education requirement.
