Women Helping Women Climb the Ladder of Success
Leadership * Business Development * Mentoring
AWLA - Maricopa Chapter is offering a great professional development opportunity for Maricopa Chapter members. The Maricopa Chapter will provide partial scholarships for up to four of our members to participate in Ladder Down, a preeminent professional development program for women lawyers. Participants commit to a one-year program in which they will develop leadership, business development, and mentoring skills through monthly meetings.
The scholarships will pay 50% of the annual Ladder Down tuition of $900 for up to four Chapter members. Applicants must be members in good standing of AWLA’s Maricopa Chapter and must commit to at least one year of active service on a Maricopa Chapter Committee.
To apply, please provide a letter of interest no later than Wednesday, October 23, 2019 and email it to Amanda Chua at achua@gillaw.com. DO NOT apply directly to Ladder Down if you are interested in applying for the scholarship. The Maricopa Chapter Executive Committee will review all applications and notify all applicants of the results of the review. Questions about the scholarship should be directed to Amanda Chua. For more information regarding the Ladder Down program, please visit www.ladderdown.org.
Your letter must include:
1. Résumé.
2. A detailed description of how Ladder Down will help you in your practice.
3. Your activities within AWLA to date.
4. An explanation of how you will “pay it forward.”
AWLA-Maricopa Chapter has several standing committees from which you may choose:
Membership, Judicial Appointments, Leadership Appointments, Luncheon, Professional Development, Wine and Cheese, Social.
Further descriptions of the committees and their goals may be found on the AWLA website, under Maricopa Chapter. (Log in first to see the Committees tab on the website.)
Why should you apply?
A book of business directly correlates not only to increased compensation and promotion to
equity partnership, but also to women lawyers’ ability to exercise self-determination in their
careers, to effectively compete for leadership positions in their firms, to negotiate alternative
work arrangements (if desired), and to successfully pursue professional opportunities. Women
need to be empowered in these critical areas to break through the proverbial glass ceiling.
FDCC Ladder Down™ provides the necessary training and accountability to achieve this
empowerment.
Time Commitment: Saturday, 8:30 am – 11:00 am (dates below)
