Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central and Northern Arizona (RMHC) is truly a “home-away-from-home,” keeping families close all thanks to the outstanding commitment of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Through the generous support of the community, RMHC have had more than 50,458 family check-ins since opening its doors in 1985.

The families who benefit from RMHC travel far from home to receive treatment for their child at world-renowned pediatric centers located in metropolitan Phoenix. Their child’s treatment may last a day, a month, or sometimes even longer. It’s a long time to be away from home or to divide a family, and often times commuting or staying at a hotel is either impossible or financially challenging for a family. RMHC is able to help families overcome these obstacles by providing low-cost, temporary housing that is near their child’s hospital or medical center.

Nothing says comfort like a home cooked meal. One of the best ways to support the families staying at the House is by becoming a Dinnertime Hero. Preparing a home cooked meal for RMH guests after an exhausting day at the hospital or clinic is a welcomed gift that helps provide an atmosphere or comfort for families when they’re far from home. Volunteers sign up to prepare meals 365 days a year at all three of the Houses.

For Volunteers:  Dinner is served at 6:00 p.m. so please plan to arrive by 5:00 p.m. to cook. Food preparation must be done on-site, unless it is prepared in a commercial kitchen and brought in.  The kitchen is equipped with all reasonable cooking necessities.  Barbeque grills are available.  The group must clean up the kitchen and dining room after dinner and take out the trash.  Plan to stay and eat with the families!  Groups provide the food, drinks, disposable plates, cups and utensil, as well as plastic storage containers to store the leftovers.  Volunteers must be at least age 16 - bring your teens with you!  Please don't attend if you have a cold or are otherwise ill, due to the possibility of compromising the health of sick children.  Click HERE for complete dinner guidelines.
